Melanie grew up in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
She matriculated to Lafayette College in Easton, PA., where she received a BA in Religion with a second concentration in Sociology and Anthropology. As an undergraduate, she completed a summer term at Trinity College, University of Oxford, England. She went on to receive her Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. Melanie’s work with families inspired her to pursue specialized training as a Modern Psychoanalyst working with couples and families.
Having become a certified Modern Psychoanalyst, along with her work as a Clinical Social Worker, Melanie has used her skills in a range of fields:

In her years of working with executives from all different fields including technology, the media, and education, Melanie brings unique perspectives and skills from her background as a modern psychoanalytic psychotherapist that gives executives an edge over their contemporaries.

Currently Melanie is adjunct professor of graduate Social Work students in the masters programs at Fordham University, Lincoln Center, and Wurtzweiler, Yeshiva University. She teaches courses on Family Therapy, Coping with Loss, a practicum on Clinical Skills, and advising students in their internships.

Melanie also works as a consultant in New York City schools - with children, teachers and administrators, creating new solutions to old problems. She has a unique ability to identify specific issues that children who are struggling in school may have and then simultaneously works with their teachers and administrators to understand human development and new ways to approach these issues which affects a child’s ability to learn and even simply be in the classroom.

As a Modern Psychoanalyst, her years of studying infant researchers and her experiences as a mother and in private practice, led to her unique in-home service, Whispering Baby, working with parents of infants.

As a clinical consultant for the Visiting Nurse Service of the Bronx and Manhattan from 1999 to 2012, Melanie provided in-services, workshops, supervision, and conducted Grand Rounds.

As an Adjunct Professor at the New York University Graduate School of Social Work from 1992 to 1999 Melanie taught courses on Human Development, Couple Life, and Group Work, and she continues currently to supervise and teach educators in multiple disciplines and settings.
